Fiji approves revised cyclone anticipatory-action framework

Cabinet approved a revised anticipatory-action framework and extended its pilot to 2028.

The revision expands coverage to rainfall-driven flooding and other hazards, strengthens coordination and community preparedness, and addresses financing and delivery arrangements.

What changed

The framework supports action based on forecasts before disaster impacts occur.

Who this is for

Disaster-management authorities, partner organisations and vulnerable communities in Fiji.

Dates & context

The Cabinet meeting took place on 22 September 2026; its decisions were published on 25 September. Approval and pilot extension do not establish that assistance has reached every community or that a current disaster response has been activated.
