EU establishes PreparEU advisory group

A new expert group will advise the Commission on disaster preparedness and possible future capabilities.

Eleven senior crisis-management experts and six scientists will examine civil-protection capacities and risks affecting health, shelter, communications and critical infrastructure.

What changed

The group was announced on 16 September; its establishment and composition were published on 30 October.

Who this is for

EU civil-protection authorities and crisis-management partners.

Dates & context

A first meeting is planned for early November, with recommendations targeted for spring 2027. A possible European Firefighting Fleet is among the ideas to examine, not a capability delivered by this announcement. This does not change household supply advice.
