Bhutan asks districts to strengthen dry-season fire preparedness

Bhutan’s Department of Local Governance and Disaster Management asked district administrations to strengthen inter-agency coordination, mobilize community monitoring and public awareness, and increase monitoring and patrols in high-risk fire areas during the dry months.

The 12 October letter calls for coordination with local task forces, disaster-management committees and regional offices. It also asks administrations to involve local leaders and communities in forest-fire prevention.

What changed

The advisory assigns practical prevention and readiness work to district authorities and community partners before the dry season.

Who this is for

District administrations, local disaster-management bodies, community monitoring teams and residents in fire-prone areas.

Dates & context

These are requested preparedness measures, not a report that patrols or monitoring teams have already been deployed. The advisory is dated 12 October and should not be treated as a new November emergency declaration.
