Samoa launches national disaster preparedness baseline assessment

Samoa’s Disaster Management Office and the Pacific Disaster Center launched a national assessment of hazard exposure, vulnerability and preparedness capacity on 14 October. The programme is intended to inform district-level planning and investment priorities.

The ministry reports that government agencies and partners are working together on the assessment. PDC says the year-long programme is expected to produce district risk profiles, a disaster-management capacity analysis and a five-year action plan.
