Sweden outlines northern regions’ preparedness-hospital planning
Sweden outlined plans for four northern regions to jointly develop preparedness-hospital planning, covering staff, premises, equipment and management.
The pilot develops coordination among existing hospitals and care units, not construction of a new hospital. Norrbotten, Västerbotten, Västernorrland and Jämtland Härjedalen are to plan together. Their work will inform a national concept proposal due by 31 March 2027, not a deadline for national implementation.
What changed
The regional work is intended to inform a proposed national preparedness-hospital concept, rather than announce an operational new hospital.
Who this is for
Health-service planners in the four northern regions, as part of Sweden’s wider civil-defence healthcare preparedness work.
