Serbia reports oil reserves covering 56 days of net imports

On 7 October, the energy ministry reported 291,459 tonnes of mandatory reserves, with coverage measured against net imports rather than all domestic consumption.

Assistant minister Saša Koković reported 56 days of coverage against a 90-day target. Four Smederevo tanks had entered operation in December 2025; two remaining tanks were expected by December 2026.

What changed

The ministry published an inventory position and storage-expansion update. This concerns institutional oil-supply security, not household storage.

Who this is for

Fuel-supply institutions, businesses and consumers dependent on continuity of supply.

Dates & context

A separate 24 September announcement authorised releasing about 5,000 tonnes of diesel. Contracts and drawdown were still expected at that point. Neither source verifies subsequent completion of that release or the remaining tanks.
