Germany’s revised guide keeps a ten-day goal, with three days a useful start
BBK launched its fundamentally revised crisis-and-disaster guide on 13 October 2025. Current accompanying guidance says households should be able to support themselves for ten days if possible, while even three days of supplies helps and can be built up gradually.
What changed
A revised guide, not Germany’s first household-preparedness advice: BBK says it has issued recommendations since 2004 and the previous guide first appeared in 2013. Do not interpret the three-day starting point as abandonment of the ten-day goal.
Who this is for
German households preparing for disruption to everyday life. The guide describes a ten-day goal while recognising three days as a useful starting point.
Launch release and current FAQ opened. The release embeds a download card dated 8 May 2026; that card date is not substituted for the clearly stated 13 October 2025 launch.
