Switzerland recommends about a week of food, with a separate three-day water reserve
Switzerland’s Federal Office for National Economic Supply advises keeping food for about one week and at least nine litres of water per person. It describes that water quantity as sufficient for three days of drinking and cooking, excluding personal hygiene and toilet flushing.
What changed
Standing household guidance for temporary supply bottlenecks, not a new stockpiling order or a measure of institutional reserves. The food and water durations differ. A brochure download card is dated 13 October 2025; that is not treated as the guidance’s original launch date.
