Victoria announces more than A$36.8 million for disaster-risk reduction
Australia and Victoria announced more than A$36.8 million in combined support for disaster-risk reduction through Disaster Ready Fund Round Four.
The Commonwealth contribution exceeds A$17.7 million, alongside A$19.1 million from Victoria and other partners. Supported work includes flood levees, coastal protection and community bushfire resilience. Victoria also leads an A$1 million emergency-information and joint-training initiative with southern New South Wales.
What changed
Funding targets prevention and preparedness infrastructure rather than only post-disaster recovery.
Who this is for
Communities covered by the Victorian projects and the north-east Victoria/southern New South Wales initiative.
Dates & context
The joint announcement is dated 22 October 2026. These are funding commitments for future work, not confirmation that infrastructure is finished or communities are disaster-proof. This is regional programme coverage, not a change to national household-supply advice.
